Transaction cannot be processed at this time x 2 days

Tue, 12/03/2013 - 12:17pm - Anonymous
Site:

"Sorry, your transaction has been declined. Your transaction cannot be processed at this time with this payment type"

Apparently it can't be processed with any payment type - not even PayPal.  This has been going on for 2 days now.  I don't have time to stand in line at the post office all day!  I thought that's what this site was supposed to alleviate!

I am getting the exact same thing after trying two different cards.  I'm highly annoyed!. USPS is about to lose my business to UPS or FedEx!

TH on

Here are the two solutions to this problem:

Try this first: go to My Profile, Edit, Change This Address, fix anything that is obviously wrong, Verify This Address, once it's verified hit Continue twice. Then try to purchase postage. This worked for at least three people including me.

The second option is to call USPS's Internet customer care center and request your account be looked at and, if everything is ok, to unlock it. The phone number is 800-344-7779.

Merry Christmas,
Tom

Owens on

Thank you so much! It works! I don't have the intention to get any stamps but anyway I have to. It's so weird but it is OK now.

John C on

those this trick still works? Please do let me know having same issues here

Brandon M on

If the solution above does not work, clear the cookies in your browser and re-login to USPS and check out. I attempted placing an order 5 times (3 with a CC, 2 with Paypal) before clearing cookies just for *.usps.com, and the order went through immediately.

Bob on

This fixes nothing. I have tried three different broswers over the past six months, five different credit cards plus PayPal and it is the same story every time I try to ship anything: reject, reject, reject. I'm about to give all of my shipping business to UPS.

Bob on

One thing that I have noticed: Thew problem is apparently on USPS' end, because the transactions will appear on my bank account along with an immediate reversal for the same amount.

Verna on

This happened to me Saturday. Be very careful because I got charged many times on two accounts. The charges to my bank debit card did not reverse automatically and has caused overdraft charges. I had five charges of $150.07 each for two express labels I was ordering. I'm trying to contact usps now. The many charges to my paypal debit card were removed by Paypal but my bank says they can not remove them.

Nic on

I have the same problem. Even PayPal fails with the same error. The VISA transactions are actually going through to the bank. So I have a dozen pending transactions on my credit card website. AMEX fails as well. I spent 30 minutes on the phone with USPS tech support, they couldn't figure it out and said someone would call me back. I don't see many articles about this online so I suspect there aren't too many people having this issue. Tech support hadn't heard of it. Therefore, I'm thinking there is a problem with they way USPS is matching our billing address with that of our credit card companies (and PayPal). I triple checked that they matched, I changed a few things so they were exact but still no go. I've used USPS for years, and I've always had intermittent problems like this. However, this is the first time payments have gone through to the bank but I never actually get shipping labels. If I figure it out I'll post here since this is the only place I can find on the web discussing it.

Nic on

...also, I'm on a Mac, I've tried in all three browsers with the same results. I then switched to a PC, same error. I also tried creating a whole new account with USPS. I noticed that mine seemed buggy, when I choose to look at my profile the site automatically logs me out, I could never get to my Profile. In the new USPS account I can, so something was wrong with my account. Howver, I still get the same error.

annette on

Same problem here! Business customer for 18 YEARS! LOOKING FOR RESOLUTION EVERYWHER

Now, all of a sudden, I get erroneous cc error message. Called my bank, they couldn't explain it. I have all the address data the same and have not changed it for years. Now, my business is stalled and f'd up because I cannot create the labels online. I also tried paypal. I ordered stamps successfully with my same cc and went right back to try and click and ship - same error message. I know it would not do any good to call them. ugh. I guess I have to sign up for Fedex and change my whole online system. Thanks USPS.

Khu on

The same problem remained!

Kris on

Same problem for me last night and this morning. Tried all the tricks mentioned above with same results every time.

Andrea on

Having this problem right now.  Does not matter if I go to proces 1 label or multiple.  Paypal is not working argh!  Has anyone had any recent issues?

Kris on

Been having this problem since the first of the year. Neither paypal nor credit cards will work. Even set up whole new account and it wouldn't work. Did online chat and email with USPS. My problem has been "escalated" for problem solving but still nothing.

Matt on

Same problem.  Tried several different payments and accounts.  Nothing worked.  I guess the federal government pulled all there website savy employees to "work" on the obamacare website.

Philip on

this is too frustrating....I bet it was the same folks who set up the Obamacare website.

Lane on

Same problem here.

Kiara on

OMG this is so frustrating! It's ridicilous how they haven't even fixed the problem.

Kris on

Happened to me for a month. Never got a reply from USPS except for "you'll hear from us in 48 hours". When the new site rolled out suddenly I can use it again.

Bo on

Having this problem since yesterday.  Its not working!!

Anyone got it to work??

Ming on

It happens again now...  As a software engineer I really don't understand how they can keep this kind of system for so long...

TA on

Havent been able to get a transaction to go through for 2 days now, and I use this click n ship every week. Tried 2 seperate cards. I look on my statement and sure enough it tried charging my account 3 times even though it says payment declined.

Dont bother trying to call tech support, I sat on hold for 1 1/2 hours and no one ever answered...I eventually just hung up.

I guess the fact that it is government run explains it all, I dont know what else to say. But I need my packages shipped and this is unacceptable. Think it may be time to switch out of the USPS 100%

Anyone know a good place to ship flate rate envelopes for an equivalent price, maybe UPS? Fed ex is expensive from what I researched.

Tyler McNaney on

I am having the same problem. This has been going on for months! I have called USPS over 5 time and each time they said someone would contact me after two days, but no one has. The last time that I called they said there was an error but they were not sure why. If anyone finds a fix please let us know!

not amused on

Same problem here for the last three days. Incredibly frustrating.

Amos Zeeberg on

Same problem here. I'm about to move and I really need to send this to my new home. Really. Annoying.

Clifford on

Worked on last week, but since Friday I am keep receiving the same error message!

TA on

Update: Credit card still not working when I use Click N Ship for about 3 weeks now, BUT I have discovered if you purchase supplies through the shop, including postage and prepaid flat rate; the same exact card was approved. So, you can have them mail you purchased postage you buy online and it seems to work good for me. Unfortunately, you do not get the 5.05 click n ship rate but 5.60 instead for flat rate envelope.

BTW, the check out cart is the same exact process as Click N Ship but it accepts my postage through the shop, yet denies my credit card through Click n Ship.

This just shows again how messed up our system is, they really need to fix this. Still no luck with anyone from customer support helping me

Ming on

Happend again for 3 days and still not working. can't believe that they just don't improve.. or do they just don't want to provide the discount from online?

Charlie on

I have had the same problem as everyone above. Tries sevarla valid cards. America Express reports "pending" charges show up on my account and AE is prepared to authroize the payment. However the postal service system is unable to complte the transaction for reasons unknown. I even set up a new usps.com account but it too failed.

I see click and ship labeles at the psot office so the system seems to work for a few people.

Aggravated Busi... on

This is completely frustrating.

It's one thing for the service to be terrible.. .and another to have been charged multiple times (pending) but not get the product that I am authorized for.

On hold with their "Internet Customer Care" ... never mind, just hung up. Going to look for an alternative solution.

Ken on

Add me to the list ... multiple accounts, multiple computers (Macs and PCs), multiple cards and no joy.  This has worked fine for us (we send 10-30 pkgs a day via click-n-ship) up until Friday 2.14.2014.  Then all of a sudden started getting declines and it sprialed down from there.  Actually changed accounts and was successful for 2 more transactions and then it started happening there.

Now it declines everything (and posts pending to my AmEx, my MC, and my VISA ... but none seem to complete).  What a friggin' mess.  Actually got ahold of someone on the support line and of course "They are surprised we're having a problem and we're the first ones to report it" ... bullsh*t

Going to the P.O. and paying more to stand in line is a PITA.

Ming on

I did exactly the same thing as you. Succeeded after a new account just for once and never got luck again.

They said they would call me in 48 hours and it's 96 now.. I'm really done with USPS..

Kristian on

Same thing here, tried several computers with several cards.  Finally created a new account and worked for one shippment, now back to the same problem with both accounts, nothing works!  Frustrating as hell!

Veronica Knutson on

Seriously have had this issue for 3 straight weeks now and it SUCKS!!!!!!! I pay more going to the post office and their hours suck so it makes it so difficult now to get packages out in a timely manner. I hate USPS, seriously. No wonder they are going down the gutter. They can't seem to get their crap together.

Veronica Knutson on

I am sure that's why it's erroring out for us that use it frequently...they make less money on us buying online.

Ken on

UPDATE:  After an hour and half on their regular support line and then and then another hour on the INTERNET phone line (which they don't publish the number for) ... we FINALLY got someone that could help.  They say there is a huge PHISHING scam going on and they tightened security down to cut down on the problem.  Obviously they screwed it down too tight!

She had to "unlock" the accoutns we'd used and it took about 48 hours and now it works for us again.  I also noticed the CHAT LIVE function was back up on the site (we complained about that too).  Hopefully,  this fix "sticks"...

Matt on

So, what is the number to call to get your account unlocked?

Jacob on

This is so frustrating!!

I need to ship my package out by tmr!!!

gary s on

Still an ongoing problem here.  Does anyone have that number to call?

rob on

i have had this problem for two weeks now. tried three different browsers, two different payment methods. still nothing. I got it working for about 6-7 labels this morning and then it went back to the

  • Sorry, your transaction has been declined. Your transaction cannot be processed at this time with this payment type

this is ridiculous. ive called several times only for USPS to say that "they're waiting to hear back from the IT people" whatever that means..

pissed off on

I'd love that number too. I need it actually, since they disallowed international packages from brick stores, wtf am i supposed to do. I've had this problem on and off for a year now. one time i got it unlocked didn't work. Another time I tried the same payment I had tried a minute before, everything exactly the same, and it worked! There system is so ffffffffffffffffffed up, i cant stand it. Personally I blame the government forces trying to dismantle the usps, they are actively trying to make it unsuccessful.

CARL KANAS on

Anyone have the exact pnone number to use to get this resolved.  I ship 60-100 packages dailey and AI am so fed up with them that I will consider going to an alternate source.

gary s on

I called this number, 1-877-747-6249, it's their sales division.  When I explained my problem she connected me to a tech in their department.  That tech found our account was locked for some reason.  She started the process to unlock which took about 48 hours.  Good luck!

Gary

CARL KANAS on

SO AFTER ANOTHER 2 HOURS ON HOLD I FINALLY GET TO A HUMANOID WITH SOME SKILLS.  According to her my account was locked because while my credit card billing address is my Corporate Office, the ship from address is the address of our warehouse and is different.  According to her that is why the account was locked.   Personally I think that is BS since this has been this way for over 7 years and has never been an issue before.   I will let you all know if the issue gets resolved anytime soon.

CARL KANAS on

As promised here is my update:   As of this morning I was able to print out a batch of labels.  Will not know if my account gets flagged again until I print out another batch.  If it fails again I will let everyone know.  If not for now I am done here.

CARL KANAS on

well after a day of success all of a sudden I cannot ship again.  This is getting riddiculous!!

Effi Miller on

Same problem! Anyone knows can i pay, when do they pick my package up? It's also international package also. It' so frustrating !!

Brandon on

Still a problem. I tried everything... one time it even charged me and then put that amount right back in my bank acct. I tried mulitple computers, multiple cards, everything. Infuriating.

CARL KANAS on

Call them and just wiat it out til some humanoid answers.  Keeep with them til you get someone who can answer why the account is locked.  If one cannot figure it out ask to speak to their superior.

Tery on

Swith to PayPal guys. It has UPS and USPS lable creation capability in itself.

Just google search "PayPal USPS Label"

I'd put in a link but it gets changed every 2 weeks

Lloyd Standish on

I'm having the same problem reported here, I was told to "wait 48 hours" for corrective action.  After reading posts here I fear no action will result.  I'll report back here when/if I get a fix.

Lloyd Standish on

Update:

Today I got a phone call from a very nice USPS representative, saying the problem was caused by my accessing my account from outside the USA.  The rep (a lady) authorized my foreign IP number, and said I should not have any more trouble.

In sum, if your account is blocked for postage purchases, there must be a reason (in my case, my foreign IP).  Other causes might be a mismatch between the billing address you enter for the card, and the bank-recorded billing address.

Brooke on

New to the forum, first time attempting and no card or paypal will work. Charges went through and then were immediately refunded in my debit account. So odd. Switched browers, no luck. Tried on a Mac and PC no luck. Set up a new account no luck.  I am shipping many packages to Hawaii and unfortunately, USPS is the only way to go. Flight leaves tomorrow and I have to leave my poor 70 year-old Dad with everything. So annoyed with this!

CARL on

I get the same error message - 06/02/2014.  Tried mutiple credit cards, Paypal, Safari, Firefox, Mac and PC.  Finally just used Fedex 2 day for my 40 packages.  I wasted a lot of time - first entering all the addresses and then trying to get it to work.

Nic on

Go to your profile and re-verify your address. I changed my address slighty—changed "ST" to "Street" and let the USPS system recommend the abreviated version. I chose their recommendation and saved the profile. It sayd it successfully verified the address, however, there was no apparent change to the address I had when I started this process. When I go back to the profile page after saving this change it tells me they were UNable to verify the address, but the site accepted my payment for the first time in months.

TH on

Re-verifying my address worked for me today to get to the print dialog. However, printing went haywire. I had to switch from Chrome to IE11.

Josh on

Same problem here. I've tried two credit cards and Paypal. All three are either declined or return something about can't be processed at this time. USPS has managed, however, to place about 10 authorizations on my various forms of payment.

I tried modifying my shipping address as suggested above, and this didn't seem to help. Also tried saving a CC to my account, also didn't work.

Anna on

Hey everyone!

Here's the # to call: 877-747-6249. It's for Small Business help.

They are familiar with the problem.  They'll file a "reference incident" with the IT dept, and then the IT folks take care of it and

email you back.  Says it takes 2 business days.

** The main cause for the problem is when credit cards are registered under a different address and/or name than the address where you're doing business.  It declines for security reasons.***  Hope this helps everyone!

aa on

I know their IT department keeps finding a reason to defer this but that's not the problem. The cc is registered under the same name and address.

There's something wrong in the way they have implemented "payment gateway" that causes this problem. It might be picking up business name instead of person name, or 9 digit zipcode instead of 5 digit that is registered with the cc.

Either way, the problem happens only at USPS and no matter how many times their "super smart" engineers call call it "user error", it is not. WE ARE NOT IDIOTS.

I've been having the same problem with my credit cards being denied since 07-03-14.  First thing that was weird is I had entered in the names and addresses into the USPS click n ship and then I had logged out.  When I came back, the addresses I had just input were not in my cart.  I created a new account, re-input the names and the same thing happened.  That went on for 2 days.  Then the USPS click n ship declines 2 credit cards and PayPal since 07-04-14.  I finally had to use Stamps.com to get my packages out.  Thanks everyone for the phone number 1-877-747-6249 to call to find out what is going on.  If I get any answer that might be useful, I will relay it to you.

Diane on

Spoke with USPS IT today and found out that my Click N Ship account had been locked due to security reasons.  IT said it would take 48 hours minimum before they could unlock my account.  In the meantime, I'm using Stamps.com.  I will report back if my account isn't unlocked.

So lame QQ

Nam on

Really shocked that I found this thread on google and even more so because it has not been fixed more than a year as of NOW!

Can't USPS do some thing about this problem? I have 50 packages to mail out and it will take two hours at the USPS location because they have to do the same manual inputs for every single receipient. I spent 3 hours to set up an account at USPS and input all the recipients' address and now I got this problem. This is insane. The clerk at the USPS location told me to do this and it was a total waste of my time and energy!

No wonder they are in trouble with incompetency...

Mikos on

i can't even change my address because it wont accept my card.... this is kind of rediculous. any suggestions about that?

supercyberfunk on

I called tech support.  The woman acted like she couldn't understand what was going on.  She must be new if this is a common problem.  So much for ordering a P.O. box in the city I'm moving to.  Guess I'll have to do a general delivery until I get there.  The woman told me I could do that.  If only FedEx and UPS had daily mail service, I'd quit USPS.

The work around I used was to add a credit card to my usps account
random dude on

yea they can say what they want but there entire website is garbage sometimes it accpets the cards sometimes not, its completely random. what a joke any real business that had to make money would fix this i mean for F*** sake its been an issue for over a year!

Ro on

I did exactly what "Nic" suggested. His comment from 6/11/14 and it worked like a charm!

After MONTHS of not being able to pay getting that declined notice no matter what card or paypal account I used,

I went back and to my profile, chose to edit address, then clicked verify address again.

Once it did, save, and if you go back to your profile page and view the address again (on the edit page) there might be a YELLOW warning symbol saying that your address can't be used on USPS.com.

I reentered it, and verfied again until that little yellow icon went away and it said it was verified (about 5 minutes of playing around with that) and sure enough, I went to pay and this time it went right through without any issues!!!

Tammy G on

I tried this and it did not resolve my issue. Darn!

Kathleen Percey on

I also tried this and it did not resolve my issue.

Travis on

I've been getting this same error "

  • Sorry, your transaction has been declined. Your transaction cannot be processed at this time with this payment type

I tried different browers, different computers, and even created a new account.  I knew I would get this error when using a foreign IP address and when I used an ip from the US, I could bypass the error.  But now when I am in the US and trying to purchase postage, I get this error. I even tried editing the address and verifying it and still nothing.  Any suggestions would be helpful.

Tammy G on

Same dog and pony show here with the Transaction has been declined error message. I have been on hold for hours only to get to agents without resolution skills or even how to open a ticket. This just shows government cannot be responsible like a business. It is no wonder USPS is on a spiraling downward trend. No accountability without the means to resolve customer issues and blame "Washington" as the the last agent told me.

I demanded to speak to a supervisor and was told there was not one. I have been a Project Manager in care centers for years and know you do not run a center without a supervisor. That is the biggest lie I have ever heard an agent give me.

So we are going on over 1 week without resolution and I am not able to ship packages for my business. Checking into UPS. DONE with USPS.

Kathleen Percey on

I am also receiving the same error.  I've tried the troubleshooting solutions listed above but nothing seems to be working.

Hao on

I called and waited for about 1 hour, then got through. It turned out that my account was locked. They unlock it. Then I finally was able to pay! Though I still have the 'shipping date' problem under IE11, but that one can be bypassed by using Chrome.

Call their technique dept. ----- their direct phone number is: 800-344-7779.

Hope this helps!

Pete on

I had been getting this same error for the past 3 days, "Sorry, your transaction has been declined. Your transaction cannot be processed at this time with this payment type" but the transactions were still hitting my card as "processing"

Today I saw Hao's advice and called the USPS Tech Dept. 800-344-7779 and my account was back to normal in 3 hrs.

Sarah on

I had the same issue today, but as I waited on hold with the USPS Tech Department, a USPS Rep called my cell phone and told me they had noticed I was having issues paying for and printing labels.  They said it was a technical issue and that they just fixed the issue, and they had!  I'm incredibly impressed at this amazing speedy service, wow.  Can't say enough good things about how fantastic and helpful that was esepcially during the Christmas shipping rush.  And very rare in the customer service world.

dan on

I waited on hold for 1 hour 10 minutes on the technical support line 800-344-7779 (press 1, then 4).  An operator answered, I explained problem and she said she would send a request to the tech support team. I received an email a few hours later stating the account error was resolved.

The USPS continues to prove they are incredibly inept. They still won't fix this problem.

JimmyB1775 on

A few posts here have simple suggestions like clearing your cache or re-verifying your address. None of that mess works. I'm not a frequent shipper, but I understand how to use the information super highway and I HATE going to the post office. I've tried to use this site at least a half dozen times in the last year, each time giving up on the concept. Today, I have many things I need to ship and the post office is a mess. I am devoting more time to using the website today. Still a waste of time. It won't take three different cards that all work, OR my paypal info which also works.

If this site has never worked, how in the world is it still running?

JimmyB1775 on

I just spoke with them twice. They blamed it on me. Maybe I'm using an unsupported debit card (I'm using credit). Some government or corporate P-cards don't work (i'm using my own personal). Maybe I need to clear my chache (just did, sorry). Perhaps you didn't type in your address properly (since people often forget where they live). I referred them to THIS PAGE showing all the people having persistent issues with USPS.com while an infinite number of much crappier websites are eager and able to take payment.

The only thing here that could have been correct but wasn't... was the cache. But if your customers need to adjust their internet security settings to use something called "Click 'n Ship", you're going to lose customers every day.

Chris on

LMAO. I had the same issue as everyone else here. I opened a new USPS account and it wouldn't let me pay for my labels no matter what. It's obviously and account locked issue. I tried all the tricks listed above but they didn't work. I called the tech support number listed and got a highly trained and skilled government worker that obviously had no idea wtf was going on. She said a lot of "Oh gees, oh boy, oh man' during our call and after 10 minutes said "oh crap, I've been typing on the keyboard but nothing is typing out on the screen'... Yes folks, this is your over-paid and under-skilled government worker at their best.

After 20 minutes of waiting and 15 minutes on the phone with "lunk", she proceeded to tell me in a very official and serious tone that "Sir, this MUST be escalated to Washington, DC!". OH WOW! So you're telling me that my simple locked account issue is being expadited to the Mecca of incompetence! OUTSTANDING! I can hardly WAIT for my official response in 24-48 hours!

Thanks for nothing USPS. Stamps.com is working for me instead.

Elliott on

This is happening to me too. I have used several different browsers: Chrom, IE, Firefox ...All give the same error

Tracy Adams on

Despite using three different browsers on various Apple computers, I still get the dreaded message, "Sorry, your transaction has been declined. Your transaction cannot be processed at this time with this payment type." It doesn't matter whether I add a crredit card to my profile or choose PayPal, the message remains the same. Updating a profile address, which is correct, does nothing. Given the ludicrous wait times on the phone experienced by others, I'll choose a competitor instead. Makes me question the security of my information when so many others are having the same problem, and that it has been going on for such a long time. Why isn't a USPS site coming up when I type in their error message?

Tom Magers on

Same issue everyone else is having.  Looks like this has been an error for over a year.  What the heck?

Alex on

The following worked for me:

I changed my password (the got new rules: at least 10 characters, at least one upper case character, etc.) and it worked just fine after that.

I hope this helps.

Pam on

I have all the same problems... transaction declined with that payment type. I tried Paypal and 2 credit cards and 3 different browsers- Chrome, IE and Firefox. Nothing went through. Then I took out the zip code on the "ship from another address" part and low and behold.. they went through. This is a huge issue as it took me 30 minutes. No wonder everyone is trying to use other providers. Show on you USPS.

pattig on

I have had problems with processing payments on USPS.com for months. It almost never goes thru on the first time. I've tried different browsers on computers with different OS types and several payment methods (CC & PP). I never know what will finally make it go thru. Today I tried about 5 times before I came across this site. For me, checking my profile info didn't help. I went back in to edit the shipping label, but did not make any changes. After that I was able to get the payment to process. Looks like it's just a matter of chance, or keeping our fingers crossed.

AniMeister on

So it must be due to being locked out, which is probably because I let a friend use my account to ship an item. I still find this gravely aggravating that such a silly thing is so unclearly defined by the website. After reading all the comments here thus far starting from over a year ago I have come to that "locked out" conclusion and must call tech support. Hopefully with this understanding the process will be sped up. But what happened to the United States Post Office? As a kid I thought they were cool, braving the elements, making sure that no letter is lost, that people stay connected. I recall Postman and how it's values came straight from the USPS's mission. Hell before I ran into this problem they lost my package and were terribly clueless to the fact that I knew they lost it based on their own information. Excuse after excuse, for a RR package that was supposed to be signed by me at my door. Instead they leave these packages at the front office, except this time they never even delivered it. And they attempted to do so twice! They don't even deliver the mail in my apartment complex; the office mails it.

Brent on

I changed my password to the more secure password now used like the person above and then it worked for me on Paypal. Not sure if this is the only variable but something worked! By the way, I've had this issue on and off for 2 years now -- this is unacceptable.

Been having this problem for 2 months. Extremely infuriating. Fixed it by changing my name to start with capitals, I suppose to exactly match my credit card and PayPal accounts. Appallingly bad coding. You would think that given all of the tax dollars the USPS receives that could hire a couple of competent software engineers.

Angry on

This trend started in 2013. Now it is June 2015!

I tried changing my profile, "ship from Zip code" fields, setting up a different account and using two different browsers. Nothing helps. Called USPS, waited for 30 min and was transfered to their tech but got disconnected while waiting. Finally, signed up for Stamps.com. At least Stamps.com have someone to answer right away

USPS on

After trying 3 different accounts and getting the same error, I called USPS small biz. They gave me direct line to USPS TECH SUPPORT:

1-800-344-7779

They took my info, created case number for each and said wait for 24-48 hours till they unlock the account. The tech lady said that nothing else would help, since the accounts are locked.

DanielJozsef on

Thank you everyone for the information. Since I really, really need to ship, and am flying off abroad tomorrow, my only choice is using a drop-off bin at a local Staples UPS store... So naturally I cannot wait for a techie to spend 3 days unlocking my account.

So what I did was CREATE ANOTHER ONE! (Thankfully I have enough e-mail addresses to create more as I go, but I guess I'll try to get my original one unlocked.) Anyway, payment went through, labels printed, "I'm making a note here, HUGE SUCCESS!!!"

Anyway, f!*# USPS. I think what triggered their thing was that I am in the middle of a move, and already changed all my billing addresses...

So yea, if you are in a hurry, CREATE ANOTHER USPS ACCOUNT.

USPS on

Yes, DanielJozsef, creating another account can work. For me it failed the first, because I used the same credit card. The USPS tech lady told me that you need to create an account with everyting different. I even mispelled my name slightly. It worked for one label only, then locked.

Anyway, after I called USPS tech at 1-800-344-7779, then said it would take 24-48 hours, but my account was unlocked sooner, in around 14 hours.

nik on

This is insane it's been going on this long! July 2015 same problems! Will be calling tech support thanks everyone

Kierstin Nuding on

Changed my password and called USPS.  They lock accounts that are new and try to purchase more than $100.

They said it will take 10 - 40 minutes to unlock the account.

UGG!

Here is what worked for me (and I share everyone's frustrations!) -- create separate orders for items that use flat rate envelop/boxes from those orders wherein you are using your own package.  For some known reason, when I did one order with flat rate envelops chosen, separate from the pacakge for which i was using my own box, the payment went through no problem.  Why? The world will never know, but hopefully this works for others and thank you to someone suggesting this about using flat rates because that's what led to this epiphany.

Dear all,

After having this problem for more than one year (from 2014 to Sep 2015), I finally found a solution that works for me (which has also been posted on this page).

I've created another USPS.com account, using another email. And entered the correct billing address as your address (i.e., don't use your Business/working address to create the account). And for those who realized this problem and changed their addresses -- it simply does not work no matter how you changed your address after you've entered the wrong address when creating the account. In my new USPS account, I use the correct billing address, I use another credit card that hasn't been used in my previous account (not sure whether this matters or not). Then the payment works when I'm using the new account. BTW, don't forget to clean all your cookies related to *usps.com before creating the new account.

Wish you all good luck!!

Thanks for confirming the ongoing USPS online payment problems. I just found this site after a little research.

Looks like a lot of people have been frustrated and inconvenienced by not being able to print address labels, order supplies, and so on, but I've just been greatly harmed by this. In short, USPS willfully discarded about two months of my mail and I have no way to ever get it back or even know what was there.

I got a PO box for which I put the payments on a three-month autorenewal using a credit card. They had been processing normally every three months with no issues. Then the last time I went to check my PO box, I found out USPS had closed it and sent all of its contents "return to sender". They claim my automatic payment was "declined" by the bank, but it definitely was not.

I receive alerts from the bank for all online transactions, for monitoring purposes, and I did receive a normal alert for the USPS autorenewal. There was nothing unusual in it. The alert (for which I saved the e-mail) indicates that the transaction was *approved* by the bank. I checked with the bank and there were NO declined transactions from USPS (or anyone else). The bank says USPS simply failed to complete the transaction after it was approved. The "decline" came from USPS, not the bank. Since I got just the normal alert from the approved transaction from the bank, I didn't know there was any problem.

I talked with the local post office where I had the PO box, and they deny any problem with their payment systems and all responsibility for causing me to lose my mail. I presented the evidence from the bank that the renewal was approved, but they simply ignored it and refused to investigate. I wonder if there is any call for a class action lawsuit, but I guess it would be an uphill battle against the federal government.

Kristian on

Wow, they haven't fixed this in almost two years.  That's something!  It's the end of September 2015 and same problem presists.  I created new account to work around the issue, managed to ship one item and it locked that account as well.  Nothing works, not clearing cookies, not verifying your address again, nothing!  USPS is useless, had 3 hour hold to speak with them and all they can come up with was that I need to call my credit card and make sure they allow the charge to go through.  Which one of the 10 different banks and cards I've tried should I call?  Isn't that a lovely coincidence that all of them decided at once to refuse charges from USPS, including my Paypal account.  These guys are useless idiots!

Jordan on

Hello everyone!  Thank you for all your help! i had such a problem and your complaints enspired me to research! for people with paypal i found a great round about! you can pay with paypal on paypal for USPS at https://www.paypal.com/bin/webscr?cmd=_ship-now

Saved my life! haha not really but i was so tired of going to usps for 1 package a day! you can still schedule a pick up after you pay through paypal.

Eva on

Thank you Jordan,

your information save my life! ;-)

I'm so happy that I can pay now with paypal!

As all other people here the last year I experienced a lot of impossibilities to make payment through my usps on line account. Based on my observations, my problems started when I changed my address and my billing information. USPS can blame us for our uncleaned cache, but in my opinion is the cache of USPS web site that is stuck, also, some bad script connections on their software. I'm so tired of them, really...

Even the Paypal method used to owrk for me, but after a few labels, it keeps asking me to add a credit card... that's just crazy,

Dan on

Had the same issue. Tried to purchase 4 labels and got declined for every payment option about 15 times in total. I ended up using the paypal version to create and pay for the labels. Right after I finished, USPS actually called me and said they fixed the issue on my account and I shouldn't have any more problems. I did not expect that.

apparently it's still an issue 2 years later

Been having the exact same issue. Tried using PayPal and a Visa on an Android and then a Mac. Not a great time

I wish I could UPS my bills, that would save me the long wait in the post office during the holiday season. *sigh*

Same problem for about 2 month. Right now trying to call their tech support ..... for 40 minutes already !!!!

2016...and still a problem.  USPS continues to suck...guess I'll have to use FedEx.

Emily on

I solved the problem by changing my password -- password requirements appear to have changed (now a very complex set of rules including a req for 10+ characters). When I changed my password to be compliant with the new rules (not prompted anywhere), my transaction was able to go through.

Nick on

Did the password changed as "Emily" suggested. Same problem. Still a POS website.

Johnson on

Forget the password trick. It's just random luck (or something else unknown).

I just created an account for the first time, so my password followed the new rules. Same problem.

It really is sad. The website is great otherwise. Why won't they investigate this issue and fix it after 2 years?

Danielle on

Nothing has changed in 2016...my even greater disadvantage is that I am stationed at a US Embassy in a foreign country where the postal service employees assist with nothing involving payment so standing inline helps none! Last 2 calls to USPS Cusotmer Service ended after 45+ min with no contact with a person. I would like to ban them but they are my only option.

Same, 45 minute call with no answer.

After USPS start declin my payment(credit card, paypal payment all declined),I ve been using paypal shipping as mentioned above. Its a little chaper than USPS.That's really helpfull.

But I can not use address book so each time I have to type in address even for those who I oftenly send.

Also,if I use my credit card through paypal,I can not get my reward points.

I tried call the 877-747-6249 again and again but they put me on hold forever.

Last weekend Saturaday, (its almost several month since we have not called them)I thought I gave it a try.

And they took my phone call@@

They immidiately found the proplem its a account connection error and sent to tech support those info to fix.

They told me it took 48hrs to fix and would send me email once they compleated their repair.

I was not so sure if they did or not from my past experience but yes, 3days later includes sunday ,I got email it confirmed it fixed.

I can now fully use click & ship as it should like before.

Call Saturaday or other off peak hours to the number above. Thank you Anna your info on 6/20/2014 helped me!

Oh my gosh I am so frustrated trying to buy stamps online.  It has not worked for 2 years.  I've contacted them and went through several steps while online and they can not get it fixed and they do not act like they care!  I have bene buying off Amazon but some sellers charge a little extra for the stamps.  It just not convient for me to go to the post office.

Carrie12345 on

Having same problem. Transaction IS going through to my bank but then it is declined, or reversed. For a damn $7 charge. As a small rural business owner, this is beyond frustrating. I'll go back through all these posts to see if I can find a solution. Exhausted every avenue over here. And perfect, just in time for the holidays.

Melissa on

I called the USPS about a month ago and the person on the phone said "Yes I see that your account is locked".  He also had documentation where I reported the problem months before using the USPS online system.  He said I will have to submit a work order to get someone to look at your account.  A week later I get an email from the USPS stating they fixed my account that it was locked due to potential fraud.  Made no sense to me.  Anyway I tried 3 different times to make an online purchase and still the exact same problem!!!  So I give up!  I started buying stamps at the Kroger & have purchased them off Amazon.  The thing I dont like about Kroger is they only sell the American Flag Stamp, I like the stamps that come out for the holidays etc.  I do not understand what their website is so messed up.

Brian on

Same problem. Now I have to go to the post office and wait to process postage, rather than just drop them off. What's technology for again? To make things easier, right? Guess not.

Jimbo on

Over three years since this thread started. I am getting this error now when attempting to pay for labels on USPS.com's Click 'N' Ship. Tried two different credit cards, plus PayPal. Three different browsers. Two different computers. Nothing works. I keep getting the same message...

"Sorry, your transaction has been declined. Your transaction cannot be processed at this time with this payment type"

Kinda amusing that they still don't have a fix for this in place.

Rebecca on

I can verify this is STILL an issue, even when using a VPN to the U.S. I can't use the PayPal option because I'm having issues with that too... it complains that I have to add a credit card to my account when I have two already added and a credit card as my preferred payment type. Also, PayPal doesn't appear to let me print customs forms, so this is still a colossal pain! This is so pathetic that USPS can't fix this after so many years!

Melissa on

I agree I giv eup on tyring to order stamps online.  The USPS is a joke.  I had my mail on hold for 10 days while out of town for the holiday and the carrier delivered mail to my house every single day.  I filed a complaint and the postmaster sent me a reply stating the carrier was probably a substitute and that it would be addressed in the carriers morning meetings.

The USPS needs to get their sxxx together if they want to keep customers.

Perri on

We are having the same problem on our business account. It is terribly frustrating. We have tried everything that is suggested above with no change. I wonder if the USPS has created issues by creating official road names? For example: the road has always been called Main St, but maybe the USPS decided that the official name is Route 28? Anyhow, we have been in contact with customer support and they have been ignoring our issue for days. I guess if they have been having this problem for 4 years now, they clearly don't have a fix.  If we hear anything back, I will post here with their suggestions.

GE on

@Perri

You're not alone. After years of using Click N Ship with no issues, I'm experiencing same issue.
Called 1-800-344-7779 and spoke with somebody at Small Business. They told me they will escalate to the tech department and that the issue should be resolved by tomorrow. We'll see.

I ended up using Paypal labels. Less cost yes, but a pain for somebody like me who ships 10+ packages per day to repeat customers.

Took me 4 times as long as I wasn't used to the interface.

Perri on

Our issue was resolved within one day of finding the right approach!  We called 1-800-ask-USPS then asked to talk to the tech support. They looked at our account, said it was an "account connection error" and that they would fix it. They sent an email within a few hours saying that the error was fixed and we have been able to use Click and Ship just fine since then!  If you are having trouble like this, I recommend you try this method!

Jen on

I called technical support and they were able to reset my account and in a few hours I was able to ship and process labels again. Call usps.com and hit technical support. it works!

DEREK on

Have tries calling USPS tech support mutilpe times, there is always a 30 minute or lobger wait and I have lost connection multiple times after waiting 20+ minutes. Do they really exist?

All together I had $1500.00 plus charges on my accounts.

Tried paypal non debit card payment and it was declined too but did not charge me.

Funny thing is I had just ordered a priority domestic label 5 minutes before error and after many tries on the two international express labels I removed the insurance I was trying to purchase with them and transaction went through. I planned on adding insurance at post office to those two packages but they refused. I had to manually purchase two NEW labels for $157 and request a refund on the two I had finally managed to order.

Scott on

Has USPS replied to this problem?  I can't make it to the post office, so I want to use this method and haven't had any problems until this transaction.  I too have pending charges and am hoping that they don't release them.

Patrick on

Same as everyone else.  My account must be locked, because nothing in this thread fixed it.

Tomorrow's Saturday, so I'll try a couple of the numbers listed here.  I already started a USPS tech support claim and got an autoresponse- 3 days ago.

The single label I did get to print before I got locked out had a satisfaction survey address on the bottom of the recipt:

https://postalexperience.com/pos  which forwards to:

https://survey7.maritz.com/2d2f67fa/poss/index.php?mt=1

Might be worth filling out.  I know I'm having a "postal experience".  :/

Getting that same error.. 45 minutes on hold with USPS. While I was waiting I found two alternatives that use USPS... first uses Commercial Base Rate - Shippingeasy dot come and if you do less than 50 ships per month it is free. The other one is goshippo.com Also free, but no limit on number of uses. 7 cents per label charge however. It gives you the same pricing you get with USPS Online. I will proabbly end up using both. Just pee'd that I have a couple hundred names and addresses stored on the USPS web site and I have to re-enter them all!

I too have had this problem and none of the fixes (clearing cookies, changing address, etc.) have worked. I signed up for a free trial at the shipping easy website and actually paid less than I was quoted at USPS for a package. I'll be using this until USPS gets their issues worked out.

Try PayPal. It has inbuilt capability to do USPS and UPS shipping lables. And PayPal doesnt charge a dime extra.

Google search "PayPal USPS label" .

I'd put in a link but it gets chnaged always so it wont be useful to someone who is reading this after 2 weeks of posting.

Almost 2018 and STILL the same problem. USPS would be great if it actually did the one job it was supposed to do. Feb 2018 and the SAME PROBLEM is still going on. 3 different credit cards all "declined", except all the charges post to the account. I tried this to avoid the nightmare of actually stepping foot in one of these dumps. How can one organization be such a complete pile of garbage? Unbelievable. Government institution at it's finest.

I've been having this exact problem for months! There was also wierd stuff happening with my account, like it automatically loging me off randomly. Or nothing showing in my cart even when I click on it, then randomly showing my labels at other points.

Basically, my Dad hasn't had any issues with his account so he got the labels for me.

My advise, find a friend who has this working for them and ask them to do it for you.
