Did you figure out what the oops message was? Im experiencing that now.
I know its was last year, but how did you solve that "oops due to an unexpected error" problem. Having to use my moms e-mail as I have not been able to access mine for 3 days
iam forgotpassword
error: oops, due to an unexpected error we are unable to sign you in at this time. please try again later.
I have tried several browsers, and none work.
I have two aol email accounts one gives me the oopd, due to an unexpected error we are unable to sign you in at this time please try again later. The other email works fine. Therefore it is not a connection issue. I hope I'm not getting hacked. This is very fustrating Tried to call aol wait time is a minimum of 30 minutes.
Same here. Have been using aol since 1995. Just started throwing errors today at 1. iPhone says password incorrect. Website says unexpected error occured.
identical problem to aolusers problem .. oops message on pc, phone saying password incorrect. Most annoying . My first thought is has it been hacked.
Tried to login to my icqmail.com account and got the "oops" message. Called AOL tech support, my account is not in their database. They couldn't understand the connection between icqmail and AOL, they said they don't support icqmail. I access my e-mail yesterday but not today. I have lost some very important e-mails and no one can tell me how to get them back. Any ideas?
beth I have the same message and problem you have since 7-10-14, AOL gave me the same BS, tried entering ICQ number for ID but that still has not worked, can not reset because AOL does not recognize ICQ mail account. this is the only forum I have found online addressing this currently. I have sent email to my ICQ address with nothing coming back so I know it is in operation still, just cant access. this is the second time in 16 years they have done this. Maybe it will be the last for me. post if u get an answer. THX
Same problem here, I've had contact numerous times allready with the helpdesk of AOL (Email, Twitter, Facebook). They keep selleng the same BS time and time again: go to WWW.ICQ.COM\HELP, AOL doesn't support ICQmail. To be exact, AOL took over Mirabilis in 1998, and part of that was the hosting of icqmail-adresses. Since then ICQ (instant messaging) has nothing to do anymore with ICQmail. That is AOL's since then.
And now they obviously want to get rid of it. Ridiculous to just close down accounts without notice. I had this adress for over a decade and is my primary mailadres. I am totally fukked without entrance. AOL could have at least inform ICQmail-users in advance, in my opinion. To give users the chance to save their important mails and adresses.
I am furious. But not so positive about the future outcome to be honest.

Ian, I did get this email from ICQmail help. But looking at it and reading some about the sale to a russian company a few years ago that I did not know about since AOL still hosts the log in site, makes me think we are all being hacked right now by someone, or some company in Russia. AOL can suck the big one for not notifying us about the sale. It is really strange to that not much is being posted on the web about all of this. would have thought there would be more people pissed off than what you see here. I have had this account since 1999??? We R screwed.
ICQ is in Russian hands for quite a while now, only ICQmail is sold to AOL some 16 years ago. I received this russian mail as well and google translated it: it tells that your question is registered and they give you a case number. Also do they promise to get back to you inside 5 days. I am waiting 2 days already so I hope for some answer.
At the same time, 1 year ago the same happened and took 2 days. AOL kept saying that they didn't support ICQmail, to find out 2 days later they actually did since 1998. Entrance was restored inmediately.
I am afraid it is final this time, AOL just gives one oneliner as answer: go to ICQ. But since ICQ doesn't have an emailplatform anymore I am sure this will not be the solution.
I am so utterly frustrated and angry about this...
ICQ main site now ask for a mail to be registered for sending site mails to, which makes me think they know ICQmail won't be brought back- unless this is not a new procedure.
I do wonder how many accounts ICQmail actually had -for them to take this line of sudden death!

Got no answer

...is the server for ICQmail at AOL.
It looks like it's been sidelined but as some acoounts are working still it may be that certtain accounts have been compromised and dealing with it is difficult due to lack of internal support after adopting the service from ICQ. I'm waiting for a response too from the help at AOL but not very hopeful tbh.
I did read that there was a security issue with the Russian company up-front having intrusion problems. The state over there are heavily involved in this setup, apparently.
Use this site to check server status. Note this is not the AOL portal, though- but does bive some data.

I tried resetting password but the service wasn't available which bodes ill!
However I still hope somrthing can be done as it's been around a long time and has quite a few of my mails stored still.

tes, Mine too at last. So long as it keeps on working I'm saying nothing. Just got a mail saying AOL don't support it- but they seem to.
This was ICQ's response to this latest down time.
Bogas!
Hello,
Unfortunately, we do not support this service.

Bill (------------@att.net ) need help!
Hi Bill, I suspect that AOL have been through their terms of service and made changes that could affect many accounts esp older ones like ours.
This is a new message coming up on the start page for logging on to AOL [ICQ mail portal]
tegz,
I have been exporting and cleaning out some 6000 emails since the site came back online in an effort to salvage what is there and move myself to another service. It was tough updating all my accounts with a new address, forwarding my new address to all my contacts, and getting it all switched over, but I will never ever deal with AOL again. In any manner or capacity. This type of action should really never happen. And I have already dealt with it twice now. No more, so long ICQ and AOL. Hope you fare well if you stay with ICQ.
Bill
So you did get it back then!
I use it as a web account for all the non personal stuff and subs to forums that send out a lot of repeats.
I'm keeping it going as I'm quirky like that but can see that you have a lot more to do getting stuff straight- so I think you're right to relocate.
They really don't seem to know what each hand is doing with their mail support- but it is actually a good mail setup for the user when it's working!
I'll see how long it lasts.
All the best to you
Trev
There we are again,
tried to setup my last accounts to the new email address and couldnt login
A new page went open.... Russian server

No chance to login, all my data was still up there

Just leave the last letter or number of your password. Worked for me
For example if "password" is your pw, youll type in "passwor" and there you go
