Card decline/site shows zero balance

Tried to use card at 8pm 3/2/13 and it was declined. Check account and shows 0. Card worked earlier today. Check site a second time and showed money and checked a 3rd time and back to 0. Cannot get a response when calling 800 number.

I worked for BB&T from 1993-2004, and I can honestly attest to the fact that something like this has NEVER happened before! It is obviously a banking error, but hopefully it is corrected soon! We went out for dinner tonight and were embarassed when we couldn't pay! BB&T mobile shows zero balances, but the online site shows all our money...very upsetting to say the least!

I couldnt even access online said it was down and the number it said to call wasnt working either

We were out shopping earlier today and had no issues. At 8pm we paid for dinner and the card was declined. We just talked to BBT and they said there is an issue with the website and it is affecting multiple customers. We were told to keep checking the account and they were very sorry for the drama

Same thing happened to us tonight. Stopped to get dinner and card was declined. About had a heart attack when I checked the balance and it was $0.00 for checking and savings!! Of course you can't talk to anyone about it but rest assured they will hear from me! You know how quickly they would be all over us if we were late with a payment or were overdrawn and charged with fees!!!!

The very same thing with me. Used the card earlier with no issues. Tried around 8pm it was declined, showed zero balance thru mobile app. After a few minutes the app showed my accurate balance and now shows zero. Phone24 doesn't answer.

Just checked phone app and my money is back in...Hopefully for good now!!!

I was just out for dinner my family and some friends. Well just like most who commented I couldnt pay for dinner! So embarrassed this was my only card I had on me! Luckily mywife brought her credit card. BBT really need to get there stuff together!

Same thing happened to me! Luckily the lady I bought food from was nice enough to allow me to eat for free when my card kept rejecting. . . So I guess I should view that as a success of sorts. I'll take a free meal when I can get it haha. After an hour of freaking out due to my balance reading $0.00 the 24-hour rep from BB&T was able to put my mind to ease. Said that everything was going to be okay and that it was an error that encompassed a vast majority of BB&T clients. Aside from the short freak-out session I'm not too pissed, though I have learned a valuable lesson and have the majority of my funds redirected to my other bank.

My Card was declined and mobile app showed a 0 balance. When checked VIA my home PC, all the money was still there. This has got be BB&T hack attack, DEATH and DEcapitation to f!*#ing hackers. This is big, all BB&T customers.....

Same thing with us. My husband and I went out to dinner, and both of our BB&T debit cards were declined. We couldn't get anyone on the phone, we didn't have enough cash on us to pay the bill, and we had left our credit cards at home. The restaurant would not take checks either. Luckily, after about ten or fifteen minutes, they reran the card, and it worked. Of course, right after we left, it went back to showing a zero balance on all my accounts on the mobile app. We went to a few stores after that, but obviously I didn't chance buying anything since the accounts kept switching back and forth from the actual balance to a zero balance. It was so frustrating and a bit scary, honestly. All of my bank accounts are with BB&T, but it may not be that way for much longer.

I had the same thing happen to me. Buying groceries at Target. Card declined and I had a cart full. Checked my account and it was zero! I had to use my credit card instead. I couldn't even get the automated telephone system! Very frustrating!

This was extremely upsetting. Even worse was not being able to get a response from BB&T. I am on my way right now to transfer my accounts to another bank. A system failure like this is unacceptable!
