Canceled order/reason-card not verified but pending charge is on credit card

Placed an order that processed but immediately I got an email that they canceled the order because they couldn't verifiy the card.  I go to my Bank of American card site and there's the charge listed as pending.  Now the charge will set on my account for up to 8 days and I still need the gift. When I tried to find out why they canceled the order, I get info on "how to cancel an order"  They just canceled a customer too.  I placed the order on Target.com and no problems.

I am so fed up. I have place my order 3 times over the last 7 days. I didn't even get and email for any of the cancellations. I have removed and re-added my card to no avail. I have used that card several times over this period so it isn't my card and no information is missing on the site. I did notice each time I replaced an order, something was out of stock, making my shipping not free. So when I replaced it the second time and replaced the out of stock item with something else - it was cancelled again. So the 3rd time when placing it, I noticed another item was out of stock. I have come to the conclusion that because this one item that the keep running out of put me in a no free shipping mode, they just cancel the order. I have waited on hold so many times for 15+ minutes to only be disconnected when the time ran out. When I did get a voice he was no help because it had to do with the financial department. I am so furious. So I had him open a ticket for the financial - NOTHING IS WRONG WITH MY CARD OR INFO - so ready to shop elsewhere. I have buying monthly online for a year with no problem. Why all the sudden and why such crappy customer service? Fed up!
