Samsung TV can't connect to Netflix. No reason given.

I've tried loading Netflix twice on my Vizio tv and each time it won't load. When I try to exit out my whole tv stops working. I then have to unplug it, wait a few minutes, plug it back in, and wait for the tv to load back up. Any idea why this is happening or how to fix it? Thanks!
I have the same problem but on my samsung smart tv. there is a fix on you tube but doesn't work for my 1 1/2 year old tv version. I don't have the same menu choices people are using to fix.
