I am getting this right now! How am I to pay my loan bill on time?....

Amy on

I am getting this error message now as well and have logged in just fine for years. Coincidentally, this error message occured after I paid off one of my loans for the first time - I am sure that has nothing to do with it... I have called FedLoan multiple times for a week and half - they have reset my password, I have reset my password, tried typing in (versus copying/paste) the password, made sure my browser is updated and cookie settings are correct, tried different browsers, tried different computers, and reset my entire account. I am calling again tomorrow and supposedly I will be directed to someone else that can help me since they have drained all their options for assisting me. They have refused to log in for me or see a screenshot of the error. They keep telling me that they show that I have successfully logged in and accessed my account which is not true. My bill is due Friday....please help if you know anything else that can be done. Thank you.

Whitley on

Did you get get this issue resolved?  I am getting the same error message!!

Amy on

As of this past weekend, I can access my account again, but only after I made a phone payment in order to avoid a late penalty and after I contacted USA.gov (I am not sure  though if either action had anything to do with my online account access working again). Prior to it working again, I emailed FedLoan the screenshot of the error and only this week am I getting replies (after I am able to sign-in again) stating that to help me further, I have to log-in to my account (which of course is useless if the error is that you cannot get into your account in the first place! Overall, my experience with the FedLoan customer service was completely useless and a waste of time). I guess at least it is working again, but I am not sure what caused this or how it was corrected. Besides contacting USA.gov, there is also an ombudsman that can be contacted if issues with FedLoan are not getting resolved. I hope this helps a bit.

Whitley on

Ok, Well I'm glad it was resolved for you. Gives me hope. They keep having me change my password and reseting my account, even though that clearly isn't going to work. I have not contacted USA.gov yet, I ill try that next! I did have to make a payment over the phone this past week; otherwise, my payment would have been late. I had this issue right after I paid off a loan, same as you. I am wondering if that is connected to this issue in anyway. Thanks for your help!

Amy on

That's strange, and no problem - glad I could be of some help. I will repost again if the same issue comes up for me. I wonder if it is a glitch with the website's programming.

Mike on

I am having the exact same problem. I have only been a FedLoan customer for 2 weeks. E-mail and telephone support has been useless so far. Hoping it will start working, as they basically told me I'll have to send payments by mail.

Whitley on

Mine is still not working, it's been 2 months now. I have no idea what to do next.

Mike on

That is discouraging. Interesting that customer service claimed they weren't aware of any others reporting this issue..

Whitley on

I made a payment over the phone this week and now I am able to log back into my account. I'm not sure that is what solved it but worth a shot!

Whitley on

I have been talking with a guy from the Pensylvania Higher Education Department. they are supposed to call me this week with a solution. I will let you know if I hear anything.

Mike on

I just tried logging in again, and suddenly it works. I was able to schedule a payment as well as register for Direct Debit. I will update here if I run into any more problems, but I might be all set. No idea what changed, because their e-mail and phone support claimed it was on my end, not theirs.

Katie on

I would absolutely not sign up for direct debit. When I had Navient, they took $260 from my account without warning, supposedly because I'd made an extra payment along the way somewhere? They refused to return it, and my account was overdrawn. I have never been signed up for auto-debit with a student loan company again.

In addition, I'm getting the "An Error Occurred" message now. My IDR was just updated. Not sure if this has anything to do with it.

Patrick on

Been getting this error message intermittently yesterday and today. Was wondering if anyone else is experiencing it. Wondering if the site is just down are going through maintenance.

Chris on

I just consolodated my loans with FedLoan. From day one I've gotten this error message. I just got my packette of information in the snail mail from them but I still can't log in. I've reset my password a couple of times. I've sent them an email asking for help. All I wanted to do was go paperless and be able to see what my payment date is so I don't miss it. Annoying.

Chris on

I just got off the phone with their "tech support". The gentleman was polite enough. He reset my security questions a couple of times and suggested that I "wait 24 hours and it'll fix itself". :) He then tried to pitch me on their direct debit program which I can set up right from their website. :D

I'm pretty sure that tomorrow I wont be able to log in and I'll have to take another hour out of my day to wait on hold to try and fix it. I sent an email to tech support yesterday and have received no response other than the automated one, yet.

Valerie on

So there is no real solution to this? I am trying to do it from abroad it and isn't easy for me to call them but I really need to log in to recertify for IBR. Ugh!!

Doug on

Currently getting this error as well on myfedloan.org.

I paid back at the end of September, but it will be due again soon.

I tried clearing my browser cache and resetting chrome to default (without clearing passwords/bookmarks/etc) and doing a hard refresh on the login page (ctrl+F5) and when I logged in again, it asked my security question. But after signing in, it gave me the error again.

I will try again in 48 hours, but this better fix itself soon.

Rachel on

I'm having the same issue. I live outside the US, so I thought that might be the problem; I had a relative try to login for me in the US, but that still got the same error message. And since their international help line is not toll free, I've already wasted a chunk of money trying to resolve the issue with customer service with nothing to show for it: first it was try a different browser, then it was resetting the password (which I had already done myself to no effect), then it was changing the primary phone number, which has had no result.

I got fed up and contacted the Department of Education to make them aware of the situation today. It's too early to have heard back, but if anyone else wants to email them as well, send it to Section508@ed.gov. Make sure to include the URL of the login page and a description of the problem you're having. FedLoan Servicing seems to be handling this issue on a case-by-case basis rather than trying to get at the root of the issue through their IT department.

I'll continue trying to contact them directly to get my account fixed, but hopefully the DoE can force them to get it fixed for everyone.

Raul on

I am now experiencing this very same issue, 2022, after more than 12 years of it working without issues. I may guess this has something to do with the servicer FedLoan as I understand they did not renew their contract with the DoE for loan servicing. Regardless, I can't log in after receiving an email notification that I've got an important message in my account inbox. I'll wait a few days to see if anything changes but I'm hoping this is affecting far more people and not just an account security problem because I can anticipate the hell that will be trying to restore such an old account.
