Mac Mail still rejecting AOL passwords

2nd post: been a week now, and I'm having to re-enter the passwords for all my accounts over and over in the Mail Program on my Mac (both on IMac and laptop). the dock is endlessly bouncing with prompts to enter my password, then I enter and all is ok for an hour or two, then it happens again. Sometimes it says the server has rejected the password (when it is indeed correct), do it a few more times than it works for a bit. last 24 hours alone I've re entered my password at least a hundred times!  A few friends are having the same issue

DO we have any idea if and when this error  AOL is calling "TICKET 98090" will be fixed? Do you believe this may be a security issue within AOL?

Dina on

Oh, I didn't realize AOL had actually acknowledged it with a ticket number. security issue is something to consider... and a huge drag too

There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “arnietsport@aol.com” or try again.

The server returned the error: The attempt to read data from the server “nginx.mx.aol.com.aol.akadns.net” failed.

IM getting this as well as your user name/password is incorrect then when i change it its now saying

Your comments are exatcly like mine. I just called customer support and the bottom line is UPGRADE for a cost and they will provide techie service. Is this some kind of issue they came up with to get you to upgrade?

This is happening to a lot of people and theyshould recognize it and fix it! I've been a member since 1995 - boo hoo! Hard to make changes now.

I reinsert my password and it works for five minutes or so befor it sends an error again. I'm accessing through my "Macmail" which is an application for macs combining my Gmail and AOL email accounts all into one "get your email" function.

That being stated, I have had this problem over and over again. The newest error message is:

"The attempt to read data from the server “nginx.mx.aol.com.aol.akadns.net” failed."

I have deleted the mail accounts off my Mac and reset them at least 4 times this year. If this is a security problem where "Bots" are trolling for passwords, then they have become extremely sophisticated in gaining access to my system. One thing is interesting about all this - If I sign onto the AOL account via my browser (Safari or Firefox), I get all my mail for that account, no problem. This seems to be a Macmail problem.  I can't imagin this is true however, I'm not in the know.

So if anyone out there has a real fix for this, please do post it. I would hate to think that this is a passive agressive marketing tactic being employed by AOL just to get money out of me.
