Smart TV app won't connect

Netflix site works fine on my laptop (wireless) but the Smart TV app isn't connecting. Have performed all recommended correctives, other apps work just fine so it's not a connectivity issue with the TV. Performed the "upupdowndown.."etc maneuver, and set it to deactivate but it doesn't deactivate, never asks me to log back in, just keeps giving me the "cannot connect" error message. I see it is apparently a widespread issue at the moment, judging from the reports on here. Which is good, because I was not happy about the idea of my still-new TV having a malfunction. Hopefully Netflix will fix this soon.
