rejecting passwords

I get my emails through the Mail program on my Mac, and as of a few days ago, all my AOL accounts keep asking me to enter the password every half hour or so (it's relentless). I get the mail, then get prompted 'the server AOL has rejected my password' when it is indeed correct. Is this on Apple's end or on AOL's end? I'm not getting this prompt from my Mac email address. Thx
