email attachments and messages

My screen shows an incredible basic format. It shows the different folders I have, I can get into each folder and access my emails. Now when I try to go to my "work" folder that has an attachment, I can click on it, click on the specific email, but nothing loads, just a completely blank page. I'm very much screwed at the moment.
