Just called comcast, told me email was working just fine, told them it was not, told me again email was working just fine. I have had service for 6 days and this junk starts. Said that they had received no reports at all, I read them some of the stuff off of this page, lady got upset and told me again they had no reports, I told her maybe they did not want to spend 40 minutes on hold. Then she has the nerve to say they could not control the hold time for the calls because folks were just always calling in with problems. Maybe if the service worked no one would have to call.

Check your settings. My service randomly stopped after i downloaded my emails and had gotten malware (i think) which changed my ports. I count less than 5 times having virus problems in the past decade.

checked settings, they are the same as the guidelines from comcast that I used to set them up with. still not working

Just finished with Comcast tech ... This guy was #4 and knew what to do ... the first 3 were incompetent sales types! Comcast has changed their outgoing SMTP port from 25 to 465 and it needs to have SSL encryption checked.

Um. Did anyone get an email about this change? Did they actually think people would just figure it out by themselves? What a bunch of dummies.

I have not been able to send for a couple days now out here in Seattle. Did they say how to fix it or are we waiting?

Lori, Here are directions on how to setup your email client: https://customer.comcast.com/help-and-support/internet/email-client-programs-with-xfinity-email Make sure you are using port 465 and SSL with the smtp.comcast.net server. Port 25 will no longer work! Also, your POP server (mail.comcast.net) should be using port 995 and SSL. By the way, I posted this info back on Feb. 28 but few people seem to look at previous posts to see if a solution has been found.

My setting are exactly that. I still cannot send email out of Windows Live Mail with the Comcast account. I used the exact link that Comcast provided and you posted and it worked fine until Thursday. You are painting with a mighty large brush. Perhaps my issues are different from yours?

Most people are having a port 25 problem. If this is not the case for you did you try contacting Comcast for help? I know many of their people are clueless but a few seem to know what they are doing.

The people over at comcast are useless. i figured out that after our snowstorm that since we were still without email to check and see if changing the ports would work it did. Comcast by no means am i am computer wizz or Genius but i figured out what to do without the help or your website or the morons you call "technicians". The only correct recourse now is mass firings. You are complete useless bags of excrement , letting your customers down by not informing them of such a major policy change. Now that that is done. I don't know what the other email clients that people are using but for Mozilla Thunderbird : 1. Alt T go down to account settings click on Outgoing SMTP 2. click on edit and in the box with the port number change it to the default one listed for me it's 465. Now you should be good at least until you are able to switch isp's.
