AT&T refuses to recognize my password

On Oct/9/13 my MS Outlook program would not open. internet connection operates just fine. AT&T support program installed in my pc system allowed access to the repair page after  I entered my user name and passwerd but the "steps" of repair could not repair access. I was referred to an AT&T "support" unit.
