Forced to update now netflix will not load

I was forced to update the netflix today on my PS3, now it will not load. I uninstalled and reinstalled with no difference. I appears the update broke netflix on my PS3, because it still works on my computer, tablet, and Iphone.

It keeps giving me error code nw-3-6 and to go to the website for help. I can not find any error codes on the website. So what does nw-3-6 mean anyways?

same thing happened to me.

I ran into the same thing after the forced upgrade to the 2.11 app a couple days ago. Rebooting the router that connected to the Internet addressed, but it's unclear why that might have been -- it was truly a last ditch effort, and there was nothing else amiss about the router (lots of other devices were behind it using Netflix successfully). I was on the phone with Netflix support for an hour and can confirm that nw-3-6 didn't appear in their database.

Update: resetting my router only worked for awhile. Afterwards, it was back to the same bad behavior.

Same problem and error code. I've reset and reinstalled more than once. Not sure what else I can do. Netflix works perfectly on my phone and laptop, so obviously a problem with the ps3 update. I have two PS3s and they are both showing the same problem.

Hey guys. I've had the same problem too. That's how I found this thread. I think I figured out a temporary fix to this problem. Delete the Netflix app and Netflix data in the game data utility section on your home screen. Reinstall it, then when it says it needs to update hit ok, but instead of hitting ok the second time, just cancel. You may need to sign in, that's what I had to do. It might ask you to update again after you sign in, but just go though the same process. I said temporary because so far every time I exit Netflix and open it again, I have to cancel the update. Hope this helps guys.

Thank you this seems to be working, but getting in is annoying. I hope Netflix fixes the update problem soon.

Yay! Thank you for the temporary solution!

I called Netfilx if you get the nw-3-6 error code after updating with the 2.11 update (on PS3) there is a error in the networking codes. They are working on a fix for everyone, but if you are computer savvy they can walk you through a manual fix. I'm going to wait for my husband to get home to try it. I'm not completely computer friendly and I don't want to take out my all my internet. Good Luck everyone!

Thanks. At least I know there is light at the end of the proverbial tunnel!!!!

It's amazing the kind of incompetence you see these days. What kind of a dumbass organization releases a forced "update" without testing the goddamn thing first? How hard is it to test an update on multiple platforms to make sure it (gasp) actually WORKS?!? I'm a programmer and this makes me sick every time I see this kind of ridiculous crap happen. I will never understand it.

I never experienced a problem after the update. The error code just came on screen now. I have had dns errors before with using netflix on my ps3 and the problem always ends up being related to my internet connection. For me it is through my at&t u-verse box. Even the smart phones will not connect to that connection. I always have to unplug it then plug it back it. A forced reset basically. Everything works afterwards. It seems I have to do it often. And I never had to before I switched to at&t. Perhaps this can be of help.

Ok here is my workaround.

It is an issue with DNS.
Optionally make sure your router has the latest firmware upgrades.

Then in the DNS area just use a public DNS like an OpenDNS of:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

The DNS I used was the Google 8.8.8.8 and that seemed to work for me. Here is the Netflix error help page.

I hope that this helps others.

Worked like a charm! Updated my ps3 dns with

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

Works again! Not sure why a mandatory update would have such an obvious bug though....

I just got this error. It says:

Your device may not be connected to the internet.  Please make sure your connection is working and try again.  Code: nw-3-6

Not sure what to do.  I have read this thread, but you might as well be speaking Greek to me.  Any suggestions?

My router is a refurbished Netgear.  I can't afford anything else.

The DNS change worked like a effin' charm. I urge people with this problem to go and try this solution - it's not hard to do, and works in a definitive way. Well, at least until Netflix puts out a better upgrade...

What is a dns

Just used this on update 2.13 and it worked amazingly. Admin = A GOD!

DesertAdmin on

Oi!

Possible issue is Netflix cloud storage may be more dynamic then we think. I believe that the DNS zones for Netflix's cloud changes content at such a rate that most standard DNS servers are caching the zones to slow. So a DNS entry like OpenDNS or Google's DNS refreshes so rapidly that they are best to use to keep up with the ever changing cloud of Netflix.

My DNS entries are still working with out an issue. I am very happy that my time researching a solution has helped others.

Cheers!!!

Thank you so much for posting this solution! I am very far from tech savvy but was able to do this in a snap. Now my babies are able to watch their elmo again and this mama can relax and watch movies at night :) thank you again!

Duy on

This is not a 2.13 solution. This will not give you access to american netflix.
