Since when does ebay schedule a 2 hour maintenance worldwide?
Billhook on
Totally agree, what BS. No way a site like eBay would shut down globally to do maintenance. It's like 2013?

If you owned a website that held onto contact information/banking information/etc you would realize how important it is to keep up with the technology around you, its probably either a security update or a bug fix.

There are no announcements on the board. This is the only eBay page that appears to be working. I have never heard of a 2 Hour Globally maintenance that take the entire community down. Welcome to eBay's System Board. Visit this board for information on scheduled site maintenance or system issues that are affecting Marketplace trading. For general eBay news, please see our General Announcements Board. There are no announcements.

First off, I still have FULL ACCESS to Ebay in Canada. So I don't understand your GLOBAL shutdown. And the post on the link appears for me. " ***Scheduled Maintenance For This Week*** August 21, 2013 | 08:53AM PST/PT The eBay and PayPal systems will be undergoing general maintenance from approximately 23:00 PT (11pm) on Thursday, August 22nd to 01:00 PT (1am) on Friday, August 23rd. During this maintenance period, certain site features may be intermittently unavailable or slow. "

The Post seems to be having difficulty staying up, as I refresh it goes away and comes back intermittently. ***Scheduled Maintenance For This Week*** August 21, 2013 | 08:53AM PST/PT The eBay and PayPal systems will be undergoing general maintenance from approximately 23:00 PT (11pm) on Thursday, August 22nd to 01:00 PT (1am) on Friday, August 23rd. Bug fix?? More like bulls!*t A notice saying about maintenance is on site, but was not emailed out as far as I know. Maintenance due to be done by 09:00, it's now 10:00 and sign in says I don't exist??????? Anyone know how to contact one of the money grubbing s!*tes at Ebay ?
OP on
You sound like the type to stress out. Relax a bit. Maintenance is almost never done when scheduled to be so, especially with larger projects. Laziness being the biggest factor. Go have a snack and watch an episode of the Gilmore Girls (assuming your old like that) and your granny panty purchases will be back before you know it.

not quite as simple as this - there are major problems. UK site is throwing up all sorts of errors here at 10am Friday morning. This has never happened before in all our years of trading and is causing huge disruption to business.
OP on
eBay has been down before... I'm sorry if you missed that memo, but it has. You just so happen to be active with eBay this very second. All of the other times I suppose you were not. There is nothing you can do about it at this second. This isn't causing a huge disruption to business, its causing a MINOR inconvenience. Instant Money is the same money as 1.5hr Money, the only thing you have to do is sit down and have a coffee.
Dave on
I am sat down having a coffee :) However, I'm not just active with eBay this 'very second' - we have been active since open of business at 8am like thousands of other businesses in the UK. In all our years of trading through this particular channel, this actually hasn't happened to us to this degree during business hours. It has caused disruption to our business this morning for a number of reasons which I could go into if you like. I'm quite a calm person, therefore I'm sure we're not the only business this is causing problems for. No doubt everything will be fine soon but when your business is disrupted, it's natural to worry. Sat there smugly patronising people whilst people search to find out what is going on is a little childish to be fair.

The length of and extent of this outage suggests it is unplanned. Most likely some sort of malicious attack.
OP on
I agree with the possibility, but I wouldn't be publicly making announcements like "Under Fire! Under Fire!" because that is just bad business. Considering the control I've regained since it first went down for me. I'm assuming if it was such a thing, it was dealt with and things are being turned on... slowly.
Dave Allwright on
It is now 10.47am UK. I have just managed to at last sign in. I even managed to get to "My eBay" page. It shows many orders awaiting dispatch but when I click on link it says no information available at this time. Things appear to be slowing coming back. It is costing my business time and wasted money. In all the years since 1999 when I started on eBay I have never known anything like this outage eBay ID - Stampsnallsorts
Dave on
You're not alone - it's affecting many businesses from what I can see. I've never seen 'maintenance' of this degree at this time of day/time either. I'm sure it'll be back soon but then we have the joy of cleaning up all the spilt milk.
