Email not working properly. cannot send email, cannot delete emails when in email, etc

I have an old Bellsouth.net email address and my at&t email was down, too. I got it working again by doing the following in Thunderbird, my email client:
Go to Tools/Account settings/Server settings. Your POP mail server name should be: inbound.att.net and the port should be 995. The user name had not changed, it was my full bellsouth email address eg. username@bellsouth.net. Connection security: SSL/TLS. Authentication: Normal password. The Outgoing server (SMTP) settings had to be edited. The new server name: outbound.att.net port: 465 Connection security: SSL/TLS. Authentication: Normal password and the user name: my full bellsouth.net address eg. username@bellsouth.net . You will be prompted for a password when you try to write or send an email. The password is the one you used to log into your account when you set it up, and hopefully you have it written down somewhere...
