Same here (Australia). I called the support number and (first time ever!) they immediately admitted having big problems. No point criticizing the poor bastard on the phone - just wish them good luck fixing it.

Note from a command prompt/window you should be able to PING the server  (12.154.55.20 in my case) and you should be able to TELNET to is (use port 110). viz:-

telnet popa.attglobal.net 110

if you can connect this way you can check your EMAIL inbox albeit in a primitive way.

Oftimes AT&T gets problems verifying your password. It is typical to get either no response, or a error message about the LDAP server when you log on viz:-

user bill

pass smith

The error/hand will occur after "pass" command.

VERY frustrating.

Hey Jeff, same here in Germany, altho I cannot even PING the mail server (by either name or IP address - same as yours).  I can't understand why this ATT service is so primitive and unreliable in this day and age.  Frankly it's just not worth it and my loyalty of some 18 years or so (I've lost count) is apparently completely wasted investment.  A 3-yr old kid would do a better job of network management and customer service.  Maybe that could be an opportunity... !
