I lost my contacts and the att server is down

Irecieved an update to my att phone and now all my contacts, all my notes and all my messages have dissappeared? why? this is not the first time....so frustrating then I go to the site to back up and its not working.......ATT really sucks, I never had a problem with verizon, everything gets backed up automatically and my phone seemed to work everythwere....I never dropped a call....when I travel form north to south las vegas the phone call gets dropped three times...ATT sucks
