Comcast deleted emails prior to 12 Sep

Logged on last week to find all of my emails prior to 12 Sept were misssing. Several thousand emails. Called tech support and apparently they don't back up their servers adn cannot tell me what happened. I suspect it had something to do with a 'service upgrade' to the system. What a bunch a amteurs.
