iphone app forces user to follow new topics, cannot access home screen or notifications

must have been an update - when i open the app, im asked to follow at least 6 topics. i cannot access my home screen/feed or notifications without doing this. I refuse to be forced into following stuff i dont want to follow, so i guess i will not be using the app until this goes away. this is not an issue when using a desktop computer/browser. only in the app.
