My primary att.net email address won't send or receive emails

After trying to reset my password, I am receiving the message "your account is inactive".  I have called the service number from the support website, According to the support website "If you are seeing the error message "your account is inactive" it means your account has been flagged as a sender of excessive spam. To put it simply, your account has been hacked and the security compromised. In order for your account to be reactivated, you need to call us at 800.288.2020." I am currently on hold with them.
