I could log in to Ebay yesterday (ie 3 April) but there are so many things broken on the website now that it is almost unusable. I installed the latest Firefox but no change. If you think login is a problem, wait till you try to log out. Maybe its an Easter thing ... you got to look here there and everywhere to find the logout -- the great logout hunt. I sent Ebay a couple of messages listing defects on the "Tell us what You Think" feedback facility. There is a laptop hard disk auction ending soon and I cannot even send the seller a message asking about bank deposit payment.
Summary:: it is not you, it is Ebay that is the problem. I dont know why they changed things. Worked fine before.
