I started experiencing the same error last week as well. You can bypass the error message by deleting everything in the url error after the aol(dot)com and reloading the page.
https://mail.aol.com/ <-delete everything after this, i.e. _cqr/LoginSuccess.aspx?...4XPccAAA%3D%3D
Still a PITA workaround so I think I'll finally cave after 20 some years with Netscape/Moz/Firefox and switch permanently to Chrome.
