No mail service attglobal.net

Attglobal.net mail server inaccessible from Germany; can login to management pages but webmail access results in error message to contact HelpDesk (yeah, right!) and error code "RC=-1".  SMTP outbound mail server was inaccessible on 1 Jan but that seemed to be back up on 2 Jan.  Now this POP mail server failure... what's up with the poor response? It's inexcusable in 2014 to have mail services down for such an extended period and with no posting on the main website (which still lists Status as "normal"!)
