Can't get into shopping cart

Mon, 02/25/2013 - 2:24pm - Anonymous
Site:
I can browse through amazon until I put the first item in my shopping cart. Then I get, "We're sorry. An error occurred when we tried to process your request. Rest assured, we're already working on the problem and expect to resolve it shortly." Then I can no longer navigate the site. This has been going on for 2 days, in both IE and Firefox.

This appears to be a widespread problem since at least beginning of 2013. You'll notice that the unsecure frontpage (http:) site will work but as soon as you try to access the secure (https:\\) site to place order or check account or whatever, you get the "We're sorry..." message. Sometimes Chrome will warn about an invalid security certificate.

I have had this same issue going on for several weeks now. Sometimes it works though.
It is now April 1, 2013 and the site problems have not been fixed. It is so frustrating not to be able to add items to Cart or to Wish List or to purchase items. My problems has been a, 'Please verify that you want to add this item to your Cart (or Wish List'. When I click the 'Continue' button (the only option available), the 'Please Verify' page keeps repeating. Item pages load okay but then all progress stops. I can understand having this problem for a day or two but a problems that lasts for months??? Amazon.com seems to be experiencing an ongoing security problem and the situation makes me want to seriously rethink visiting the Amazon site at all.

I am having this exact same problem. There is vitually no info in the net about it. Just suggestions to clear cache, cookies, etc.. That does temporarily fix the problem, but it keeps reocurring. Any new news?

Yes, the frequency of this seems to be reduced but it's still annoyingly common -- perhaps a few times a week. I've never seen an explanation from Amazon; I assume it's just expected that we'll come back and try again later. Maybe their servers are overloaded, or perhaps there are ongoing attempts by hackers to breach the secure connection. Who knows.
