Access Denied & "Oh no..." errors when trying to "Sign In" or access Secure (https) content

Occurs with any browser (e.g. Chrome, Opera, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, etc.)

  • When clicking "Sign In", the following Page (w\ URL) pops up with an Error message:

           Page Displayed (URL): https://www-secure.target.com/EverestLoginoverlay

Access Denied

You don't have permission to access "http://failover-target.com/content/sitefailover/ans_ohno_ssl.html" on this server.

  • Other generic error page displayed when clicking on "My Account", or attempting to access content with the following URL prefix: https://www-secure.target.com

           Page Displayed (URL): https://www-secure.target.com/EverestLoginView?langId=-1&storeId=10151&catalogId=10051

Trying to "Sign In" now produces the following boiler-template error-page: URL: https://www-secure.target.com/EverestLoginoverlay "sorry, the site is temporarily unavailable. We’re working hard to fix the problem, and will have the site back up as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience—thanks for your patience."
