I have uverse, netflix was working fine until tonight. Go the nw-8-4.  Internet is fine.  Unplugged.. nothing fixes it.

mary on

Seems to be lots of us.  I have done everything I can think of.  Unplugged, reset, turned modem off and on....guess i shall just wait.  Sometijust these things seem to resolve.

Deb Buckner on

Samsung Blu ray got Netflix just fine until a few days ago. now getting error code nw-4-8. Internet connection fine. Can't connect with netflix servers.

Lilita on

I am sooooo PISSED of. My SAMSUNG 3D Blu-Ray Player was working fine up until a week 1/2 ago. I did what everyone else did.....I called netflix..they AREN'T the problem. After minimal researchI found out Samsung has been having issue like this for a while but their rep acted as if this was new to her!!!! She informed me there was nothing she would do...I now ned to WAIT......until another tech contacts me and that could be weeks. BS.......I bought this for the SOLE purpose of streaming movies!!!!

Sandy Calkins on

The is the same thing that happen to me!  And you can not even get to the settings to relog in.

Kimberly Felshaw on

Ours has been down for 3 days now with the same code.  What is going on and when will it be fixed?

Theresa on

I did factory reset on the Visio smart tv, seems to have fixed my problem.   Try factory reset

Erica on

Working yes! Ty

Brady on

How do you do a factory reset?

Theresa mcwhorter on

Menu> system> reset & admin > reset tv to factory defaults

This will make it like when you brought it home.  Just follow steps and connect to your internet,  you should be good to go.

Kay on

Thanks so much!! I just spent a whole hour trying to figure out what was wrong... Thank God for Google and you of course!

Jamie Poniatowski on

Brilliant!!  Thank you so much!  Have been fighting this for a month on a new smart tv that was fine for a week.

Really appreciate it.

angel on

Theresa I want to thankyou so much your steps worked wonderful.  Thanks again

Deb Buckner on

How do you do the factory reset on a Samsung BD-5700 blu ray player?

theresa on

Blue ray I dont know.. try googling it or if there is a menu look for settings to see if something is there.  Google blue ray + the model + factory reset.

Brady on

Alright, factory reset has occurred.  No changes.  It doesnt allow me to log out of netflix.  What in the world is wrong here?  Internet works, but Netflix server does not.  Who do i contact?

Deb Buckner on

Reset done...no change. You're right, can't log out of netflix. Netflix online support doesn't help. What now?

theresa on

Deb, see my other reply... go on your computer to netflix.com, deactivate that device and log out of netflix.  The go back to blue ray amd uae netflix.  See above...  let me know .. I hope it resolves it.     Problem is the netflxapp... not internet.

theresa on

Oops... see below

Theresa mcwhorter on

Ok try  this.  Go to netflix.com on your computer,  log in and deactivate the device.  Then log out.

Now run netflix on blu ray it will ask for account info, re log in and it should work.  The internet wasnt the problem, the netflix app is.  It needs to "reboot" ao to speak.

Brady on

My biggest issue right now is that I can't log out from Netflix on my BlueRay.  Any ideas?

theresa on

Brady.. see my comment.. go on your computer log in to Netflix there and deacrivate the bluray device on the website then log out.    Go back to your bluray and you will reinstate the connection.

Brady on

How do we deactivate?  Every screen has the option of going up and down.  Therefore we can't do the code.  Or am I missing something?

Theresa on

Brady go to your iPad or laptop... Not on your blurry.  Go to netflix.com.

my account

my profiles

signout of all devices

logout

then go back to bluray and you will re initiate the device.  This will reset you.

Brady on

done in the website...now back to the blu ray.  how do we reinitiate it on the blu ray?  We simply can't log out.  It asks and does not allow us.

Theresa on

doesnt it ask you for pw again?  If you deactivate it from the netflix acct, when you try to use your bluray it should ask you for acct info bc netflix will not recognize the device.    Is t hat not happening?

Isma on

Buu I had exacly the same problem I try everything noting works

Brady on

How do you deactivate from the website?

Theresa on

Brady go to your iPad or laptop... Not on your blurry.  Go to netflix.com.

Page 1. Activating Your Player

Getting Started

You will need:

  • A wired or wireless network connection
  • High-speed Internet connection (2.4 Mbps for DVD quality, 5 Mbps for HD quality)
  • An active Netflix membership
  • Access to a PC/Tab to login to the Netflix site and activate your player

Activate your Player

  1. Power on your player and tune your TV to the input that your Blu-ray player is connected to. For example, if using HDMI select the HDMI input on your TV. Often this button is labeled as input/source/line in on your TV remote. However, if you're not sure, refer to the TV's user manual.
  2. When the Home Menu displays use the up arrow on your Blu-ray remote to move to the Netflix icon so that it's highlighted, and then press enter. If this is your first time launching netflix a terms of service agreement will display, if you agree select agree and then press enter.
  • If the Netflix App icon is not available be sure that you have activated Internet@TV first, once installed the Netflix App icon will display.
  • If you are outside of the US and using a US Blu-ray player the Netflix App is not available.

  1. After Netflix launches you are prompted to select if you are already a Netflix member, Yes is automatically highlighted, press enter.
  • If you do not have a Netflix account select No, you will be directed to go to Netflix.com to sign up for a 30 day trial.

  1. The last screen appears and your code is displayed. If you need another code press the Exit button on your BD remote and then repeat steps 2-3.
    1. On your PC go to www.netflix.com/Samsung and then click the 'Have an activation code?' button on the web page. If you are not already logged in to your Netflix account you will be prompted to sign in.

    1. Next enter the activation code displayed by your player in Step 4 and then click Activate. If you need a new code go back exit the Netflix App and then follow steps 2-4 again.

    1. The player will then display the Netflix splash screen and reload the application.

    1. The Netflix website will then confirm the player has been activated on your account.

    1. The player will then display your Netflix queue. Here you can browse New Releases, movies by Genres, Suggestions, Instant Queue, or Search. When you have selected a movie title you will be given the option to watch or add to your queue. Enjoy!

Note: For additional help, tips or FAQs, visit http:www.netflix.com/help/tv or login to your Netflix account and click "help" at the top of the page.

Bonnie on

Just bought the samsung  BD-5900 for the netflix featture.  Does not work even after 6 samsung agents.  Error code nw4-8. Samsung will say they will call back they don't so you have to start the whole process over again and again.

Netflix site no help either!  I can get Hulu so I canceled netflix.

mary anne on

Samsung just fixed my netflix issue. Try this:

Make sure you're on home screen

Hold the STOP button down on actual player for 8 solid seconds.

This does a different type of reset

Reenter all details in the setup.  Reenter wireless info and reconnect.

Open netflix and it will have you redo all entries and sign in.

This fixed it for me.

Samsung explained they were in the process of upgrading the Netflix app for their software.

mary on

Mary Anne....thanx...what do you mean by home screen?  The screen where you get to chose Netflix, Hulu, settings, photos ' blah blah blah?  Or the screen after that where the entire red screen says Netflx?  Gonna try it!

mary anne on

Home screen of blue ray player. Where the apps and settings etc are all visible.

Chad on

Okay please help me. I can not find the "STOP" button you're referring too.

Danielle on

Thanks mary anne, all is working thanks to you!!

joshua on

Yay!! worked for me push stop for 8 seconds and it logs you out of netflix.

Gmax on

Glad you got yours to work. I took the samsung back I spent a little more money and got the Sony blu-ray. This runs smooth and even had a net flicks button in the remote. Good luck.

Vs on

This worked for me the second time already, thank you so much :)!!!

Sopath on

Thank you so much. This works.

Nick on

OMG thanks.! I bought my player over a month ago for the sole purpose of being able to stream Netflix. It never worked not even after speaking to Samsung and Netflix tech support. Thank you thank you thank you for sharing!

Dan on

great tip the stop button reset my samsung blu ray player after days of samsung and netlix this worked thanks

Kurt on

Seriously, talked to way too many techs that could fix this. Holding down the stop button for 8 seconds to reset the system worked for me. Thanks!

Dustin on

I tried the deactivation trick.  I tried turning the player off for 10 seconds.  I tried those things in combination.  Nothing worked.  Then I found your post.  It worked.  Thank you for taking the time to contact Samsung directly and then posting your method!

Jaime on

Thank you!!

THANKFUL on

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS INFO!!!!  i tried just about everything and didn't know about this hard reset option.  Netflix has NEVER worked on my player but it does now because of this 8 second reset.  THANKS AGAIN!

Mavy on

Wow!  That worked!  Thank you so much.  I've lived without netflix for a week.  That was way to long.  Lol.

Doug on

Above solution worked for me

Device: Samsung 5900 BluRay

I followed the directions of holding down the "STOP" button for 8 seconds, reset up the Netflix login and I was able to stream again.

Bonnie on

Thank you all! It worked.

Any idea when/if MLB will become available for this model?

mary on

Did not work.  Aargh.  Will try again tomorrow.  Thanx,

Bonnie on

Mary make sure it is hype stop button. The one with the white square on it. And make sure you are on the homepage with the netflix icon "highlighted".  Then you will be asked to re enter pass key for router etc.

good luck

mary on

Thanx Bonnie....that's what I did, but will try again tomorrow.  MLB good idea....what team do you follow?

Gmax on

I have same problem. Worked great the first week now its not working and nothing will fix it. I'm returning it and going with a different brand.

Cheers

Rebecca on

Thanks to the poster above -  Mary Anne!  It worked for me. I'm curious how long it will last. I hope Samsung figures it out and has an update to solve the issue permanently.

Sandra on

Thanks Mary Anne & Bonnie.  Your solution steps corrected our problem.  Awesome!

Steve on

Having the same problem. I tried the steps above, but Netflix just went back to it's error screen. Worked fine until I let the player's firmware update about 2 weeks ago, haven't had Netflix since. I know I did the reset correctly, as Hulu made me reactivate my player, but not Netflix.

Gladys on

Mine did not work...I have a samsung BD-F5700...I tried everything mentioned above and still no Netflix application working.  :(

Kassandra on

Okay I have the same problem and looks like everyone is having the same issues too, so after going all over he internet and calling and this and that I lost all hope, it's been 3 days mom stop I was going to toss this deal outside. but I tired one thing and it WORKED!

PRESS ON YOUR STOP BUTTON(not on the control, on the boy ray) FOR 8 SECONDS AND IT WILL REFACTOR ALL your settings.

Click on English or whatever language you prefer.

Original screen.

Then it will take you to your internet access. You'll have to re-enter your wifi account and passwords.

After that go on Netflix and it will take a while but it will start working again!! You're welcome!

nina on

you have to reset your internet box so that it can update i guess that is a good word for it  i just had the same problem

Russ on

I had the nw-4-8 error code, unable to connect to Netflix on my Samsung bluray player. Rest is the cure.  Press and hold the stop button on the player for seconds then follow the reset instruction on your tv.  It works fine now.

susan on

netfiix has not been working for two days

j. r. graves on

I have a new blue Ray LG player when I set it up I was able to get Netflix two days afterwards it shows up with the code error nw-4-8

Jennifer P on

I have the Hisense SmartTV with Netflix and it was working fine until yesterday.....  My roommate "hit some button on the remote and something popped up - I didn't even read it and I just clicked the OK button then it would not connect anymore"......  *sigh*

I tried disconnect and reconnect to WiFi, TV reset, deactivate/sign out of all devices from my laptop options, etc.  NOTHiNG worked.

Rose on

I had the same problem, Samsung basically said too bad and then they have now come out with their OWN video rental application. My guess is they figure if we can't use Netflix we will HAVE to pay for theirs. I will NEVER buy another Samsung product. I have reported the problem to Costcos purchasing dept to let them know they are going to have a lot of complaints. Now I have to buy a new DVD player so I can watch Netflix. Samsung will never see another dollar of my money!

Cory on

i have the dreaded nw-4-8 error code also, but the hold "stop" for 8 seconds reset trick isn't working for me. So unbelievably frustrating. Three different Samsung tech support people later and no resolve is utterly baffling. Are they hiring out of grade school now? HELP! Anyone have any other alternatives? I have a Samsung BD-H5100/ZA btw.

Mike on

i have comcast.  Same issue.  So it's more than likely not the carrier.  It seems to be the Netflix app. Allu other streaming apps work on my device.

Jennifer P on

Netflix working great on my phone, though! (Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 i527

Jackie Mayden on

I have dish network and one of my Joeys will not let me get on netflix, however the main box and laptop are letting me. The Joey is giving the Nw4-8-14?

Try connecting your console to a different network

According to users, this problem can be caused by your network connection, and in order to fix it, you need to connect your console to a different network. Users reported that after connecting their console to a different network the issue was resolved and they were able to access Netflix on their home network without any problems.
