Lycos mail claims my account does not exist anymore. Have been customer for almost 20 years...

 - can not login

 - can not reset password

I'm having the exact same problem, it seems to be affecting Angelfire too. I have two seperate angelfire/lycos accounts & when I tried logging in, I couldn't log in, kept giving me an inccorect password message. So I tried resetting & when I typed in either my user name or my email I kept getting the following message "The username does not match any account in our system."

i have had the same problems listed here and the new one this morning is that the account does not exist and never has existed.  And the two k k for the secret code to put the info on the market is a new thing this morning!

Allie on

I have NOT been able to login for 2 days now.

I have requested help from lycos, sent another email address so they can contact me.

Have not heard back from them.

I NEED to get in to my account.

AND NO phone number to call someone for help.

Same here. Misery loves company though amiright!? Ugh.

D L on

Same with me. Logged in 2 weeks ago. As of yesterday my account doesn't exist. Password reset says, "The username (mysusername) does not match any account in our system."

I suspect lycos is struggling with some sort of internal system failure. Perhaps their database went down? They aren't saying anything though..

Submitted a support ticket. Waiting.

D L on

Found their number. Automated message said they are experiencing problems with users unable to log in.

Thank you.  Worried my account had been hacked or something.  Just another reminder to switch to GMail or some other provider with better service and a mobile app.

Trevor on

Hey,

well done for finding their phone no.  I couldn't find it anywhere.  Not that it will make any difference.

I had been getting wrong username/password for 24 hours (both are definitely correct), which suddenly changed to "The mail system is temporary down. Our engineers are working to restore it. We apologize for inconvenience" today.

Very frustrating as it is crucial I get my emails.  How we get to rely on these things!

Miserable on

OMG Ihave important messages waiting for me, now what?

Andy on

I've been using Lycos ever since it was mailcity, and I've never have had a problem this severe.  My user names don't exist and when I go to forget password no questions, just enter in your address and nothing.

Jason on

I am glad I am not the only one with this problem. I went to log on last night with the same issues. Would not recognize my username or password, tried to redo password, username does not exist. This kinda miffs me.

Stephen on

A releife in a way to know its everywhere. I jsut hope they come up again.

Laura Lietz on

Me too. unfortunately,  I have relied on lycos mail to keep important info so I wouldn't have to remember it.There is something to be said about a hard copy.

sc on

Lycos - free or not, people depend on the service.

Free or not, people expect sonme sort of status report.

Having to search the Internet for what's going on at Lycos is silly.

Jason on

I really hope it comes back up. I have a Yahoo account, but most of the forums I am on require you to use your OLD email to verfy the change to your NEW email. Feh..

Worried on

Have same problem.  Was able to log in yesterday morning.  Last night got message, no account.  Agree, should move important stuff to another mail service.  Hope it comes up.

hydeliz on

I have not been able to log into my lycos mail since 21st Jan 2014. tried again this morning and saw this message :

SH on

Mine too!!!!  15 year customer and told it no longer existed! Just went through the hassle of changing to a yahoo account.  UGH!  I thought it was a problem because of the whole Target breach thing so I changed all of my stuff.  Oh well!  At least if they can get it fixed I can get all my stuff back

Trevor on

My email has come back on-line

MAJOR RELIEF!!!!!

Three days without being able to access my Lycos account. Waiting for important business mails. Poor service from lycos seems to be periodic but repeated over and over. Time for new account....as soon as I can into lycos to tell all contacts of my move....sigh!

I noticed that a lot of people locked out have had their accounts for many years, a decade or more! Could lycos be trying to get rid of those of us who have had accounts for a long time and are taking up too much valuable memory? What you think?

JC Knapp on

I've been with Lycos (mailcity in the beginning) for over 10 years.  Having the same problems today in 2020 that these folks were having in 2014.  Very frustrating!

M on

Myservice has also been down with a message about "registration" and "abuse"???????  It would be nice to have some feedback from the company whether hopeful or bad news.

Having the same problem (02/11/14).  Tried signing on via the normal logon screen and received another (different) screen asking for my password which, BTW, made me a bit skidish thinking someone hacked into their mail system and were trying to copy email addresses/passwords.  Tried for several minutes and then, all of a sudden, voila!, I got in (yes, via the initial logon screen).  Yes, it does make me think about migrating to somewhere else.  I'm starting to think that they're doing sometype of system change(s) without prior user notification of said change (I used to work for IBM).

I'm having similar problems logging in on a dasktop/laptop, but have no problem accessing via mobile.  The website is asking me for a new Alias, which sounds like they want me to create a new ID.

CANNOT  LOG I

hrdcore on

lycos is down yet again three days for me.

Steve Inca on

I can log in but my mailbox is empty, I cannot use most of the navigation buttons so I can't compose and e-mail, check sent mail, look at my trash etc.   I also cannot log out once in.  I sent myself an e-mail from another account (g-mail) and it was sent to my lycos mail account - that e-mail does not show and it was never sent back to my g-mail account.  What is going on?  I need to access my mail.

David on

it has been 4 days and I can't get into email. My password and login are correct

joan davis on

Everytime I try to log in, the advertisements pop in and I cannot delete them.  This means I cannot get to read my mail.  Please tell

me what I can do!

is lycos down whats up

flancat on

Mine's been down since yesterday and site checkers like isitdown.com are also getting no response when querying mail.lycos.com. Just disappeared!

flancat on

Update: workaround.

I went to lycos.com, saw a technical issues notice. Then I clicked on the mail link upper left of screen and was sent to an alternate login screen https://mail.b.hostedemail.com/

It worked, and my mail loaded.

10-28-2016 LYCOS EMAIL (not 'mail') is DOWN AGAIN. Lycos is a terrible junior mickey-mouse "company" - their email "service" is down for hours and hours and hours EVERY YEAR. It's 2016 - email systems are supposed to be REDUNDANT WITH ***ZERO*** DOWNTIME and they haven't got a clue. EVERYONE SHOULD BE OUTRAGED AND EVERYONE SHOULD SEND LOUD SERIOUS COMPLAINTS TO THIS so-called "COMPANY."

been a customer for over 15 yrs, are they coming back on line, it would be nice if they an let us know, e mail don’t work so I don’t know how they can message us, is there a number that we can call??

Allan D. Eisel on

Add me to the long list of people having problems with Lycos mail.  It is the primary email for my eBay business.  I have tried for two days and cannot even find a way to contact anyone - and speak with a human being.  The one phone number I found yields nothing. I'm on Day 4 of not being able to log in and have my mail load. What kind of an outfit is this, anyway?  I read somewhere that they were going to demand free users to upgrade to a fee-based account.  Even if I agreed to do that, what good is it when there is absolutely no way to get in touch with anybody at Lycos - chat, email, phone, carrier pigeon?  Where do we go from here?  GEEZ!
