Debit transaction denied

I was shocked when my debit card was denied. I was on the road and I am glad that I had cash on me. When I went to log onto the website, it wouldn't allow me access. When I went a Citibank branch at the ATM, it also denied me. When I called the AVR, it told me that I didn't have an account. This is real poor customer service on Citibank. Why wasn't a message alert posted on your website that you were having issues? This is not something that you expect from such a large financial institution.
