Store systems not working

Checking out, I paid with two program cards first, then tried to finish up with my regular debit card.  The card machine said "transaction terminated remove card" and I removed my card and the message stayed and the checker said it was my card.  Obviously it was the system as the whole store appeared to be in crisis mode.  Both self check stations were also out of service.  The checker then proceeded to back out items for which I was unable to pay, could not account, could not give me a receipt.  And she was rude to no end implying it was my problem, not the system.  I asked another customer who was similarly puzzled at a different checkstand.  Same thing.  I went to Customer Service.  It was dark and unmanned.  This is at 11 a.m. on a Tuesday.
