Cannot send mail out using smtp.comcast.net using Microsoft Explorer. Can receive mail and can send and receive via the web site, but outgoing mail doesn't go - error message states that "An operation of the server timed out. THe server may be down, overloaded, or there may be too much net traffic. This problem has been going on for at least 2 hours. Any help?

I'm experiencing the exact same problem. inbound is fine...outbound doesn't work. reset cable modem 'just in case'...no affect.

Sorry, mine is with Microsoft Outlook... Task 'mail.comcast.net - Sending' reported error (0x80042109) : 'Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

I finally found the issue. Comcast has apparently disabled port 25 access to the server. Since you all seem to have the same problem as I, I am assuming they did not bother letting you know either. Set the SMTP server port to 465 and you should be able to access the server. They also recommend setting the incoming port to 995, but so far 110 still seems to work.
