Green overlay: “AVPlayer: Fail to get the current bitrate”

Just started CBS All Access trial.  The show I'm trying to watch plays and is audible, but a translucent green overlay dominates the screen with the message "AVPlayer: Fail to get the current bitrate” repeated several times.  The app is running on a Samsung smart TV.
