MAC mail app or Thunderbird on a MAC can't connect to mail.comcast.net

Been trying to resilve since 10-09-14
Prior to that date MAC Mail and Thunderbird on a MAC worked for years.
No, neither can connect to the comcast.net server.
However - Thunderbird DOES connect using a Windows based laptop.
Also, I can open a browser and log into mail that way which sucks bye the way.
What the F??? Comcast?
Why can MACs not connect?
Called Comcast Tech Support and they have no idea ------
By reading all the pripr posts I am not the only one having issues with connecting to Comcast for mail.
