One Way To Fix Comcast E-Mail Problem

Hi To All of You With Comcast E-Mail Problems: As some of you may already know, you need to "reconfigure" your incoming and outgoing Port settings, but not not before taking some other essential steps first. Specifically, I discovered that the "data base" in my Windows Mail program needed to be either "repaired" or "cleaned," before reconfiguring the Port settings, etc. So here are the steps that finally (and permanently I hope) resolved the problem for me: 1) Step 1: I removed all of the existing e-mail accounts I had established with Comcast; (Note: this step will not cause the loss of any e-mail messages); (2) Step 2: I downloaded, opened, and ran a link that actually will "repair" and/or "clean" the data base in my Windows Mail program (here's the link -- www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/ (3) Step 3: I then recreated (added) a new e-mail account with Comcast (The first steps for how to do this are in this link: http://customer.comcast.com/help-and-support/internet/configuring-windows-mail-for-vista-port-587 4) Step 4: Finally, I configured my new e-mail account as suggested in the link, but with two important exceptions previously recommended by Comcast. Specifically, I used Port 465 (not 587) for outgoing, and I used Port 995 not 110) for ingoing.) At last, after two full days of frustration, I now have a "Windows Mail" program that is functiong fine with the Comcast system. My thanks to you, and several others, for providing the steps that finally fixed the problem. David
