Mainframe issues can't connect to email

I have been trying to retrieve and send emails for 2 hours. Thinking it must be my modem went up and downstairs trying to resolve issues, i.e., reboot computer etc. Finally decided to contact AT&T after continously receiving this message when attempting to retrieve email:  "INACTIVITY TIMEOUT. Description: Too much time has passed without sending any data for document." LOL. Called AT&T only to find out that AT&T is experiencing problems. AT&T Mainframe is down! I conduct business from home, can't receive info I need to do so. When I attempted to retrieve email instead of the message above, why didn't AT&T have the decency to post that info instead of the misleading info re "INACTIVITY TIMEOUT?" Not a happy customer!
