Been trying for over 20 minutes and nothing has changed. It keeps telling me that "sending of user name did not succeed". Was having no problem until about 20 minutes ago.

Similar problem started 10 minutes ago. All email passwords are rejevted.
Re-entered passwords (which haven't changed in 5 years) and all OK.
Since 11/5 Apple Mail login seldom connects for POP mail and Android Email login won't connect at all. Same problem for two email accounts on our Xfinity account. Spent an hour this am with Xfininty online chat. Since both Apple and Android Mail clients have the same problem the arrow points directly at Xfinity's POP mail gateway. Loging onto email throught my Xfinity homepage sometimes -- but not always -- seems to force a connection. That doesn't make much sense but I don't know much about POP. I can't get SMTP to work at all for outgoing messages frm the Apple client but it will send via Gmail, which I only had configured to sync calendars.
Given all the other strings in this area, the arrow points squarely at Xfinity's email gateway. And, yes, I do work in IT.
