CANNOT CHECK OUT OR COMPLETE PURCHASES AT AMAZON

Amazon Technical support is aware that there is a KNOWN PROBLEM that has been occurring for AT LEAST THE LAST 12 HOURS. Regardless of computer type or browser type, you cannot check-out or complete purchases / payments right now at Amazon.com. In addition, others report having trouble signing in to their accounts, using Amazon Prime services such as streaming video and music, using the website, contacting support. Even Amazon sellers are reporting problems with being able to sign into their accounts, receive payments, etc. Amazon indicated they do not know when the problem will be fixed but to keep checking back at their website and leave unpurchased items in your Amazon shopping cart and then click check-out as soon as the system is back up and running. Basically, the most common issue is a recurring problem encountered when attempting to check out. When you click the final "Place Order" button, it seems to initiate the usual process of check out and payment, but the same checkout page will come back again and again with the same "Place Order" button still available, and your transaction will never be completed, ordered, or finalized. Some people report that they have been trying to place an order for more than 24 hours now, using more than 10 different browswers, computing devices (mac, pc, android, iOS, etc.) and the problem persists across all devices and browsers. It appears that Amazon is losing some significant profit while this problem exists.

I have been experiencing the same problems at the Amazon.com website over the last 24-hours

I've had this problem all day today.  They should put a banner on the home page so people don't waste their time shopping without being able to check out.
